My internship with NAVAIR exposed me to the inner workings of professional engineering teams and prepared me for my own professional career.
Over the Summer of 2018, I was a part of the Systems Integration Team in charge of working on the BQM-74E at NAVAIR based in Point Mugu. On the BQM-74E integrated product team, I learned what it was like to work on a professional engineering team. My knowledge of engineering processes and systems integration grew as I worked closely with senior members on the project. I prepared detailed technical directives, failure analysis reports, and engineering change proposals in compliance with the Navy regulations set before us. The areas that I learned the most in while working on this platform were aerodynamics, structural design, stress analysis, and test instrumentation. In addition to acquire important engineering skills, I also developed as a public speaker and coordinator by getting the opportunity to facilitate meetings and presentations. In addition to invaluable leadership and engineering skills, this internship gave me a glimpse into the professional aerospace world and the necessary perspective required to formulate an opinion of which specific sector that I want to pursue.
